There are various flavors, listed below.

  • Milk (the one tasted here)
  • Dark
  • Black Cocoa & White Chocolate [winter only]
  • Premium Chinsuko Chocolat

The packaging changes with the number of chinsuko, and comes in both bags and boxes.

Personally, since most people buy these as souvenirs, I think standardizing on boxed packaging would make them easier to hand to family and friends.

Chinsuko Chocolat (milk): our impressions

Chinsuko Chocolat looks like a chinsuko neatly coated in chocolate.

A chinsuko with nicely judged chocolate sweetness and a distinctly light, crisp texture.

My impression of chinsuko had always been that it leaves your mouth dry after one bite, but

With Chinsuko Chocolat my mouth never went dry, and it was easy to enjoy.

It differed a little from the chinsuko I had in mind, but the flavor and texture are clearly designed to suit a wide range of people.

Break the Chinsuko Chocolat in two and it looks like the image above.

It felt lighter in the hand than a standard chinsuko.

There are small hollows inside the chinsuko, and apparently that is the key to the texture.
