Yuinohama Coast is a stretch of shore in Shioya, Ogimi Village, in the north of Okinawa’s main island.
It adjoins Yuinohama Park, laid out along the shoreline, and you can look out over the sea from a park equipped with a promenade, shelters, and a large playground.
This is not a broad white-sand beach; instead a concrete promenade runs along the water, with steps down to the shore.

Yuinohama Coast is not managed as a swimming beach, so there are no lifeguards and no jellyfish net.
On the other hand, the adjoining Yuinohama Park has restrooms, drinking fountains, vending machines, and parking, so you are unlikely to want for facilities.

There is also a basketball court, a gateball court, and an open lawn, and at 23,146 square metres the park is generously sized.
It works well as a break on the drive up to Yanbaru, somewhere to let children run around.

Restrooms, parking, and vending machines on site
The park has separate men’s and women’s restrooms, and part of the women’s facilities is barrier-free.
There are drinking fountains and hand-washing taps too, with vending machines beside the restrooms and on the car park side.
Parking is free and split across two lots, one large and one small.
There are no showers, changing rooms, or lockers, though, so bear that in mind if you plan to go into the water.
Points to note
Yuinohama Coast is not a swimming beach. With no lifeguards and no jellyfish net, going into the water is at your own risk.
The steps down to the shore get slippery when wet, so watch your footing.
If you go in during summer, we would recommend wearing a rash guard as protection against box jellyfish.

To reach Yuinohama Coast, head north on National Route 58 from Nago City towards Kunigami Village and cross the Miyagi Bridge and the Shioya Ohashi Bridge over Shioya Bay.
Carry on about a kilometre past the bridges and the crossroads is your landmark.
Parking is free, in two lots: a small one by the playground and a larger one by the lawn.

Nerome Coast is another beach in Ogimi Village, the same village as Yuinohama Coast.
It has a broad sandy shore, so the scenery is quite different from Yuinohama. It is worth visiting both.

For sightseeing on Okinawa’s main island, a rental car is by far the best option.
Shuri Castle in Naha, the beautiful beaches up north, American Village in Chatan – the places worth seeing are scattered across the island, and having a car lets you explore at your own pace. Buses are infrequent and rarely run on time, so having a car makes a real difference to the trip.
Cars book up quickly in peak season, so reserve as soon as your dates are set.
