Kise Beach is located in Nago, in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
It is a natural beach known for exceptionally clear water and roughly 1,500 m of unbroken sand.
In summer, Kise Beach sets up an inflatable aqua park on the water — a seasonal attraction that children in particular tend to love.
It is well equipped for swimming, with showers, changing rooms and restrooms, along with a good range of rentals such as swim rings, and plenty of activities.
A jellyfish net and lifeguards are both in place, so adults and children alike can enjoy the water with confidence.

Highlights
About 1,500 m of sand
The sand runs a long way — roughly 1,500 m in all.
Kise Beach, Kouki Beach and Nago Citizen Beach all run into one another, and while we could not make out a clear boundary, the long, clean sweep of sand is a real draw.
Exceptionally clear water
The clarity of the water here is genuinely remarkable.
Standing on the shore, “remarkable” was about all we could manage — it is beautiful enough to leave you short of words.
It also brought home the limits of our own vocabulary.

Parasols and chairs are set out on the sand, and jet skis and the like were waiting on the water.

Kise Beach has a list of prohibited activities, so please check the rules on the signage and enjoy the facilities responsibly.
Anyone not staying at Kanehide Kise Beach Palace must pay a facility fee.
The fees are as follows.

Kanehide Kise Beach Palace is being refurbished, so parking at Kise Beach is not currently available.
Neighbouring Kouki Beach has a free car park, and we recommend using that instead.

Activities in Nago
In Nago, marine sports such as snorkeling, diving and SUP in the clear water are hugely popular.

Best Western Okinawa Kouki Beach
Best Western Okinawa Kouki Beach is a resort hotel on the Kouki Beach shoreline in Nago, where every room has an ocean view.
From the room balconies you can take in emerald-green water and beautiful sunsets, for a stay with a real sense of openness.
It is about 3 minutes by car from the Kyoda interchange, which also makes it a convenient base for exploring northern Okinawa.
A rental car is the way to see Okinawa
For getting around Okinawa’s main island, a rental car is by far the best option.
Shuri Castle in Naha, the beautiful beaches of the north, American Village in Chatan — the sights are scattered across the island, and with a car you can take them in at your own pace. Local buses are infrequent and rarely run to time, so having a car makes a real difference to the trip.
Cars fill up quickly in the peak season, so we recommend booking early once your travel dates are set. One important note for overseas visitors: to drive in Japan you must obtain an International Driving Permit (Geneva Convention) in your home country before you depart, and remember that traffic in Japan drives on the left.
Kouki Beach
Kouki Beach is the lovely stretch of shore next door to Kise Beach.
It is well equipped, with showers and lockers available for a fee.
Kouki Beach also allows barbecues and camping, which makes it our particular pick if a barbecue is on the agenda.
Kise Beach and Kouki Beach are joined by sand, and the walk between them takes about 3 minutes.
