Tourists almost never come here, so it suits anyone who wants to relax in the shade or on the sand.
The Highlights
Clear Water
The water was remarkably clear and very beautiful.
There were also plenty of the large rocks characteristic of the coasts of Okinawa’s main island.
About a Kilometer of Beautiful Sand
The sand runs on for roughly a kilometer and is lovely.
The sand itself is good, but there are a lot of small stones too, so we recommend shoes or sandals rather than bare feet.
Surrounded by the Yanbaru Forest
The Yanbaru forest surrounds the site, and the sense of wild nature is strong.
The rock on the left of the photo above stands about 20 meters tall.
Photographs do not quite convey it, but visiting in person leaves you struck by the scale of the nature here.
Surfers Come Here Too
We saw people walking down toward the beach to surf.
The only people on the beach were a single group of surfers, so visitor numbers — tourists included — are low.

Cape Hedo is well known as the northernmost cape on Okinawa’s main island.
High cliffs and exceptionally clear water define it, and on some days the waves run rough.
The views are genuinely beautiful, and on a clear day you can see Yoron Island and Izena Island.
Large numbers of visitors and locals come here every year, which makes it a good choice if you want to take in Okinawa’s wilder side.
