Yokuda Beach sits in Maeda, Onna Village, in the central part of Okinawa’s main island.
About 10 minutes by car from Cape Maeda, it is a natural beach that almost no tourists visit.
The emerald-green water is beautiful, but there is no dedicated parking, so you will be walking the last stretch down to the sea. It has also never been developed as a swimming beach, so there are no facilities at all.

Yokuda Beach is not a managed swimming beach, so there are no lifeguards and no jellyfish net (habu jellyfish barrier).
There are no toilets, showers, changing rooms or shops either, so bring whatever you need with you.
If you go in the water, please take safety seriously.
What makes it worth visiting
A quiet hidden spot with no tourists
Yokuda Beach barely appears in guidebooks.
Cape Maeda nearby is packed with visitors, yet this stretch is astonishingly quiet.
It suits anyone who wants to spend unhurried time on a shore with hardly anyone around.
Beautiful emerald-green water
The water at Yokuda Beach is a gorgeous emerald green.
Because the shoreline is almost untouched, you get the colour Onna Village is known for exactly as nature made it.
Past the entrance, grassland and trees open out, so even the walk down to the sea has a character of its own.
Easy to combine with Cape Maeda
Cape Maeda is about 10 minutes away by car.
Cape Maeda has parking for roughly 180 cars (100 yen per hour, 7:00–19:00), and the toilets on the same site are open during those hours. Showers and lockers are available from 7:00 to 18:30.
Pairing it with Cape Maeda, famous for the Blue Cave, lets you enjoy both a lively sea and a quiet one.
Things to be careful about
Yokuda Beach is not a managed swimming beach, so there are no lifeguards and no jellyfish net.
At low tide the rocks are exposed and the water is no longer swimmable. If you plan to swim, aim for the hours around high tide and always check the tide table before you go.
Watch out for currents and dangerous marine life, and enjoy the beach at your own risk.
If you go in the water in summer, we recommend wearing a rash guard as protection against habu jellyfish.
Always take your rubbish home with you, and be considerate of the neighbouring community.

Yokuda Beach has no dedicated parking, and you cannot drive right down to the shore either.
By bus, it is about a 5-minute walk from the “Yokuda” stop.
Follow the road shown on the Google Map below towards the sea and you will reach Yokuda Beach.
If you come by car, please avoid parking in the nearby community or on the roadside, as it causes problems for residents. If you want toilets or showers, it is safest to plan your visit together with Cape Maeda, which has the facilities.
