Oyadomari Coast (Ichanda Beach) is a beach in Nakijin Village, on the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
Roughly 500 meters of white sand and clear water define it, and there is a café along the shore where you can sit and look out over the beach.
Hardly any tourists come here — very much a local find.

Oyadomari Coast has no swimming facilities, and the beautiful natural shore is left largely as it is.
There is no permanent safety net or lifeguard, so take care when you go into the water.
Highlights
Clear Water
The water is clear and very beautiful.
This beach is left almost entirely as it is, so the natural side of Okinawa comes through.
There was still pumice on the shore when I visited, so I could not get good photographs.
Beautiful Sand
The sand is lovely, plain and simple.
It runs on for about 500 meters, and the grain is soft and fine.
Pumice had collected at the waterline when I visited, though there may well be less of it now.
There Is a Stylish Café
There is a place called On the Beach CAFE along the shore.
You can take your time over lunch, dessert, or a drink while looking out at the beach.
Beautiful Sunsets
The sunsets are lovely too, which makes it a good spot to visit with family or a partner.

It is about an hour and a half by car from Naha Airport, which makes it easy to work into a day of beach-hopping in Nakijin Village.
If you want more than just the sea on your trip, it is well worth a visit.

Kouri Island has a great many beautiful beaches and is well known as a place to visit.

A Rental Car Is the Way to Go in Okinawa
A rental car is by far the best way to get around Okinawa’s main island.
Shuri Castle in Naha, the beautiful beaches of the north, American Village in Chatan — the places worth seeing are spread across the island, so having a car lets you explore at your own pace. Buses are infrequent and do not always run to time, so a car makes a real difference to how much you can fit in.
Cars fill up quickly in the peak season, so we recommend booking early once your travel dates are set. One important note for overseas visitors: to drive in Japan you must obtain an International Driving Permit (Geneva Convention) in your home country before you depart, and remember that traffic in Japan drives on the left.
