Nabee Beach (Onna Seaside Park) | Hours, Parking, Barbecues, and What to Do

Onna Beaches

Nabee Beach, part of Onna Seaside Park, sits in Onna Village on the northern half of Okinawa’s main island.

Its full name is a mouthful, so everyone simply calls it Nabee Beach.

What defines it is white sand and clear emerald water.

There are water sports such as snorkeling, barbecue facilities, and several spots worth photographing.
The mermaid photo session is a particular favorite, and it lets you dress the part for a picture you will keep.

Cape Manzamo, Manza Beach, and other sights are all close by, so the whole area has the feel of a proper Okinawan destination.

The water here is clear and lovely.

The sea glows emerald green, and it is a fine thing to look at.

Snorkeling too

You can snorkel at Nabee Beach.

There is snorkeling, diving, and a great deal more to be had around Onna Village, so it is worth a look on Viator or GetYourGuide.

Kaminuhama (seafood and Okinawan food) is a restaurant here too, with Okinawa soba, seafood, and steak on the menu.
It has the feel of an izakaya.

Plenty of spots worth photographing

The swing is a well-known photo spot as well, and it makes a good place for a couple to sit for a picture.

The Bell of Blessing takes its shape from the bells that symbolize a wedding hall.

Around Nabee Beach

Cape Manzamo

Cape Manzamo needs no introduction as a sight in Okinawa.

The name comes from a phrase meaning “a field where ten thousand could sit”, and it is designated a natural monument by the prefecture.

It is about five minutes by car from Nabee Beach, so it is well worth adding to the trip.

Things to do in Onna Village

Onna Village has a great deal to do on the water.

You can book diving, snorkeling, SUP, and more.

If diving or snorkeling appeals, it is worth seeing what is on offer in Onna Village.

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort by IHG

The ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort is a full resort hotel.

Ocean views from the rooms are a given, and there is a pool, a sauna, a large public bath, and a fitness room on site.

It suits anyone who wants a proper resort stay in Okinawa.

Rental cars in Okinawa

A rental car is by far the best way to get around the main island of Okinawa.

The places worth seeing are scattered across the island, from Shuri Castle in Naha to the beautiful beaches of the north and American Village in Chatan, and with a car you can take them at your own pace. Buses are infrequent and do not always run on time, so having a car or not makes a real difference to the trip.

Cars fill up quickly in the peak season, so we recommend booking early once your travel dates are set. One important note for overseas visitors: to drive in Japan you must obtain an International Driving Permit (Geneva Convention) in your home country before you depart, and remember that traffic in Japan drives on the left.
